Tetrasubstituted Thieno[3,2- b]thiophenes as Hole-Transporting Materials for Perovskite Solar Cells

2019

Three hole-transporting materials (HTMs) were prepared following a straightforward synthetic route by cross-linking arylamine-based ligands with a simple thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (TbT) core. The novel HTMs were fully characterized with standard techniques to gain insight into their optical and electrochemical properties and were incorporated in solution-processed mesoporous (FAPbI3)0.85(MAPbBr3)0.15 perovskite-based solar cells. The similar molecular structure of the synthesized HTMs was leveraged to investigate the role that the bridging units between the conjugated TbT core and the peripheral arylamine units plays on their properties and thereby on the photovoltaic response. A remarkable po…

Exploratory Synthesis of Low-Silica Nanozeolites through Geopolymer Chemistry

2019

Nanozeolites are of great interest with the premise of their efficiency in traditional applications such as catalysis and separation, as well as their emerging applications including chemical sensors, medicine, and food industry. We report a new geopolymerization route for the synthesis of nanozeolites with different crystal structures by exploring the Na–Al–Si–H2O quaternary phase space under a mild hydrothermal condition. Nanostructured faujasite (FAU), cancrinite (CAN), and sodalite (SOD) zeolites with a crystallite size smaller than 40 nm were successfully produced from our exploration, as well as a submicron-sized Linde-Type A (LTA) zeolite. The transmission electron microscopy and nit…

Loading and release of the complex [Pt(DTBTA)(DMSO)Cl]Cl·CHCl3 with the 2,2′-dithiobis(benzothiazole) ligand into mesoporous silica and studies of an…

2018

Abstract Synthetic delivery systems have great potential for overcoming problems associated with systemic toxicity that accompanies chemotherapy with the use of cisplatin and family of platinum anticancer drugs. Mesoporous silicates have been studied in context of drug delivery and drug targeting. In this paper we report the studies of loading and release of a platinum complex, [Pt(DTBTA)(DMSO)Cl]Cl∙CHCl3 (1) where DTBTA = 2,2′-dithiobis(benzothiazole), that was recently synthesized and structurally characterized. Evaluation in vitro of antitumor activity against a human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) showed a very potent activity of complex(1). Therefore, we thought to incorporate this co…

Pore Length Effect on Drug Uptake and Delivery by Mesoporous Silicas

2012

The capability of UVM-7 silicas to work as supports for drug storage and delivery is investigated using ibuprofen as a model. UVM-7 silicas are surfactant-assisted synthesised mesoporous materials displaying a characteristic bimodal pore architecture related to their nanoparticulate texture. Strict control of the drug-charge protocol allows the achievement of high ibuprofen loads, not only because of the availability of intra-nanoparticle mesopores and large textural voids, but also owing to the decrease in pore-blocking effects (with regard to related unimodal mesoporous materials such as MCM-41) achieved through the shortening of the mesopore length. The UVM-7/ibuprofen nanocomposites are…

Deep oxidation of volatile organic compounds using ordered cobalt oxides prepared by a nanocasting route

2010

Ordered Co3O4 with high surface area (until 173 m2/g) has been successfully obtained through a nanocasting route using mesoporous KIT-6 silica as a hard template and tested in the deep oxidation of a series of representative volatile organic compounds (VOCs): propane as a model of short chain alkane and toluene as a model of monoaromatic hydrocarbon. It has been demonstrated that the catalytic activity for VOC deep oxidation is very elevated and its catalytic stability at moderate temperatures very good. However, the role of the ordered structure in the catalytic performance does not seem to be beneficial. The enhanced catalytic activity has been explained in terms of both the high surface …

Nontemplate Synthesis of CH3NH3PbBr3 Perovskite Nanoparticles

2014

To date, there is no example in the literature of free, nanometer-sized, organolead halide CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskites. We report here the preparation of 6 nm-sized nanoparticles of this type by a simple and fast method based on the use of an ammonium bromide with a medium-sized chain that keeps the nanoparticles dispersed in a wide range of organic solvents. These nanoparticles can be maintained stable in the solid state as well as in concentrated solutions for more than three months, without requiring a mesoporous material. This makes it possible to prepare homogeneous thin films of these nanoparticles by spin-coating on a quartz substrate. Both the colloidal solution and the thin film emit l…

Comparison of silica-based materials for organophosphorus pesticides sampling and occupational risk assessment.

2020

Abstract A novel air sampler has been designed containing a sorbent based on UVM-7 mesoporous silica doped with Ti. The sorbent has been applied for the determination of organophosphorus pesticides in occupational air, followed by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry detection. Thus, several silica materials with different structures (mesoporous UVM-7 and microporous xerogels) were synthesized, and modified with the addition of Ti and Fe. The structure of these materials was proved by transmission electronic microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption and UV–Vis and Raman spectroscopy. The potential of these materials for the retention of pest…

Visible light photocatalytic activity of macro-mesoporous TiO2-CeO2inverse opals

2018

Macro-mesoporous TiO2 inverse opal materials were synthesized and they were tested as photocatalysts under visible light irradiation. The influence of cerium oxide addition towards the Rhodamine B (RhB) photodegradation activity was evaluated. Structural, textural, spectral and surface properties of the TiO2-CeO2 inverse opal nanocomposites were studied by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, N2 adsorption-desorption, Diffuse Reflectance UV–vis and Photoluminescence spectroscopies. Compared to commercial TiO2 anatase, the macro-mesoporous TiO2 inverse opal exhibited six times higher kinetic rate constant in the RhB degradation under visible light irradiation. The good photocatalytic activity was related to …

The influence of the anatase nanoparticles boundaries on the titania activity performance

2014

Metal oxides structures, formed by ordered self-assembling of crystalline nanoparticles aggregates, are attracting growing attention in fields such as catalysis or solar cells. The properties of these structures are influenced not only by their morphology and nanoparticles composition but also by the assembled particles boundaries. In order to determine the influence of these boundaries on the structures properties, the present investigation has been devoted to study the characteristics of anatase nanoparticles boundaries in titania aggregates prepared by TiCl4 hydrolysis at low temperature. Proton magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance and high resolution transmission electron mic…
